This store area is a work in progress, due to open in Autumn 2011, with a search engine, credit card payments, PayPal and a shopping basket. If they introduce an eight day week meantime, it'll be sooner.
It's a big job, as it's a marathon of scanning and taking photographs, typing up details, box filing and checking prices (which I will tweak to match the market once the store is operational). The profits will go to the National Independent Film Enterprise, an educational charity for ex-offenders and inner city teens. So it's all good.
On this site, sale items are aimed at movie buffs and collectors, particularly those interested in bronze, silver and golden age USA movies and television. Each item also represents a smart investment and will be sold with a receipt, provenance details and a lifetime guarantee.
Is it cheaper to buy memorabilia on Ebay? Not always. EBay is a fantastic marketplace and offers some real bargains, but also some risks, especially in the field of specialist collectibles.
On Ebay, my experience is that up to 25% of items received are fakes or copies. You have to accept this as a risk tax, offset by the bargains you find. Despite their best efforts, Ebay safety policies can protect unscrupulous sellers. And if you complain to the seller direct, you can receive mean-spirited e-mails in addition to false and damaging EBay feedback.
When you buy on-line, on Ebay or beyond, choose a company with a guaranteed return policy, unblemished feedback, an established website, a reputation and a fair-sized inventory. Certificates of authenticity don't mean much - if someone can forge Marlon Brando's signature, they can forge documentation.
If you are dissatisfied with any item you receive from me, return it in the same condition it was received and you will get a full refund, plus your shipping costs.
